About this Anubis Necklace:

This pendant is perfect for someone who has made a real commitment to living in harmony with the environment. The pendant is made from paper - and formed into a solid structure with the help of epoxy resin to protect the artwork.

At the end of the 19th dynasty (1295-1186 BC) Anubis was primarily one of the gods of the afterlife. He was featured in the judgment scene in the Book of the Dead. He is depicted as a jackal on this piece. The shape echoes the monumental pylons that fronted Egyptian temples of the New Kingdom. It would have been placed on the chest as Anubis ensured protection for the body.

Diane Kline, known for her Monet-inspired natural images, has made prints from her original paintings and these images are used to create this wonderful jewelry. The same image is used to create the lovely, keepsake boxes that contain this wearable art.

The handpainted paper mache' boxes are made of recycled materials, too! The 18" chain is rhodium plated silver so they are tarnish proof and hypoallergenic and won't cause allergic reactions that some metals do.
