Artist Michael Michaud was born in Cleveland, Ohio and raised in Westport, Connecticut. He lives in Fairfield, Connecticut with his wife, Tricia, and their three children Nicole, Shane and Michael.
Table Art is the combination of Michael's exceptional knowledge of jewelry making and his love of nature. Starting as an apprentice mold cutter in 1973, Michael soon became a master precious metal caster and mold maker. In 1976, Michael moved on to Rochester Institute of Technology's prestigious School for American Craftsmen. While studying under esteemed designers Hans Christenson and Gary Griffin, he mastered many of the techniques he uses today to capture the beauty and exquisite detail of nature in metal. After graduation in 1980, Michael returned to the jewelry manufacturing community and worked for some of America's leading jewelry designers.
In 1991, living in the Connecticut countryside and working near New York City's flower district, Michael's love of nature began to combine with his love of jewelry. He began experimenting with the techniques that eventually launched the Silver Seasons and Table Art collections in 1992.
Table Art is made using the lost wax casting method. Michael has perfected the technique of creating models from natural elements. After models are made, Michael manipulates these "copies of nature" into beautiful and functional table accessories. Using bronze, sterling silver or gold and natural stones and pearls, Michael's designs have become well known for their remarkable craftsmanship and beauty.
